Our next neighbor, Village

In the near future, we will be living in residential spaces with robots. Not only are many robots on a pilot run in apartment complexes but robot-friendly complex designs are also being considered. Moreover, as the number of one-person households and dual-income families is increasing, the overall amenity services and living facilities have started moving inside the apartment complexes. In the midst of this, what can robots do in a residential apartment building? Village proposes an On-Demand robot service where robots deliver the services to the desired place whenever and wherever we need them. We plan to make a new road for services, which will connect the corners inside the apartment complexes.
Robots, a new addition to our living spaces

The day when robots will be in our residential space is coming closer. Not only are some robots on pilot run in apartment complexes, but the bill on outdoor mobile robots was passed in April 2023 by the National Assembly. Moreover, elevators paired with robots are being developed so that the robots can easily roam around the apartment complexes.
In a situation like this where the infrastructure for coexistence with robots is being built, what will the neighborhood robots look like in our everyday lives?

Hyper-localism,
a life convenience service that moves toward us

With a recent increase in modern people who live busy lives like those who live in one-person households or double-income households, a hyper - localism market, where you can use life convenience services near home instead of going far, has become popular. People needed everyday-level, close-contact services that could move plants and return books, as well as household chores such as laundry and garbage disposal. Therefore, people want robots to become an agent that could lessen the burdens in our lives.

A need for a life-friendly robot, an agent just for me

Nonetheless, the robots so far have often fallen short of people’s expectations. There have been several robots used in apartment complexes such as guide robots, security patrol robots, and garbage collection robots, yet they had difficulties meeting everyone’s diverse needs. Then what if there were robots that stayed near us to immediately come to us when we needed help?
Just like our neighbors and agents who could bring us the things that we need, throw away garbage, return the books, and carry our baggage for us.

Our new neighbor, An on-demand robot service in the apartment complex

Therefore, Village offers an on-demand robot service that provides the functions of 'Order', 'Send', and 'Carry' depending on your need.
Through these three functions, Village becomes your friendly neighbor who gives you a hand from tiny tasks to problems that are hard to deal with on your own.
Now we only have to call our neighbor, the robot, when we need a hand. Then it will provide several convenience services, pick up deliveries, or carry things for the user.
Village can move around the places in the apartment complex by using GPS and UWB, finding us wherever we are.

A modular system that responds to various situations

Like this, Village provides delivery services and errand services in response to the resident's call. To respond flexibly to various types of items and situations,
it consists of 2 parts: the same driving bottom part and the upper part with each different function.
The parts are switchable since Village has a modular structure, and because the modules can be created whenever there's a demand for a new service,
building a robot ecosystem that is both sustainable and expandable is possible.
A sustainable robot care service for construction companies,
A win-win structure for stores within apartment complexes

Village has a service model in affiliation with construction companies and stores within apartment complexes. For construction companies, it offers a sustainable robot care service and makes connections with facilities within the community. By doing this, the companies can improve the image of their brands by providing a close-contact care service that is available 24/7.

Furthermore, Village provides various convenience services in association with the stores within apartment complexes. The medium-large sizes of apartments already are established with a commercial district and infrastructure. Utilizing this, if the robots make short-distance deliveries, the stores can save on delivery fees and the residents can also get deliveries by only paying their apartment maintenance fees.

How to use the Village

Now let's find out how we can use the services of Order, Carry, and Send in detail.

How to coexist with human

Since Village is operated in an apartment complex, a unified form of interaction was needed.
Moreover, a system that would work safely in a terrestrial park-type apartment complex where children play was also needed.
Then, let's find out how Village works in apartment complexes.
